Painter and conceptual artist.
I paint landscape from an abstract viewpoint, seeking to express the natural resonances, which make up its special nature.
In my conceptual work I frequently reconstruct familiar objects, giving them an arresting new image. By transforming pages of books, plastic objects and found materials into knitted, wound and sculpted forms, I require the viewer to question their own values and beliefs.
My painting and conceptual practices both feed into the work, which is concerned with issues confronting society today. These paintings use the superimposition and repetition of words and phrases banalised by the press to create an unsettling visual presence where the viewer tries to make out what is written over the painting.
