My work explores a variety of marking and stitching techniques to develop the power and intrigue of the image, always starting from an observed experience.
I am at present working on a series of pieces, looking at Orchids. These fascinating plants present an extraordinary range of qualities, - eccentricity of shape, glorious markings and colours, and can be either demure or blatantly sexy tricksters, and certainly not "just a pretty face". They are a wonderful spring board from which to indulge the use of the rich qualities of silk, - the glowing dyed colours and the versatility of fine fabric to develop a richly textured and expressive surface.
